Introductory Blog

Leaving My Hometown to Survive and Embarking on a Creative Journey.

Introduction

This blog stems from my endless search for self, a deep curiosity for life, and a desire to share my story to empower others to believe in potentiality, their dreams, and themselves. There is hardship, love, overcoming, surrender, and transformation within the lyrics I write, so with this blog, I want to give you a close-up of those experiences and expand upon the songs themselves.

By giving a piece of myself here, I want to inspire women and men to follow their vision and reach for their higher selves. I aim to keep carving the path toward a world where women and boxes aren't synonyms because of their gender—or ethnicity—and can express themselves fearlessly and become whoever they want. But regardless of identity, I want to reach hearts, ignite spirits and encourage others to move beyond this physical realm to a vast space where everything is possible and we are one.

A little Background

I'm an immigrant, like all of us, to some degree. I come from Venezuela, a country that many years ago ranked as the world's most robust economy, the richest in South America, and an evolving nation. And now, for over two decades, it's been led by a dictatorship, where many have died fighting for their freedom. (I will expand on this topic in a separate blog)

I was born in a musical, bilingual, and highly artistic household and started singing at five years old alongside four siblings. In my early adulthood, I was caught in an abusive, controlling relationship and was highly dependent on it, not knowing any better. The song I released last summer, Libre, is based on that particular experience but also echoes other experiences with chauvinistic and controlling men. I'd like to point out that I've got nothing against the opposite sex, but I do against controlling and abusive behaviors, which can go for either gender.

After releasing Libre, I realized that song wasn't just about a personal experience but also about Venezuela and the intrinsic fight for human rights and spiritual freedom my people have dealt with for many years. My life then was a micro-reflection of what was happening to a whole country. I eventually moved to New York to pursue acting, but I returned to Venezuela months later with untreated sinusitis and then caught a severe bacterial infection. Shockingly, the antibiotics I needed to treat the condition weren't available. Everything, including food, was scarce. As my deteriorating condition became life-threatening with no hope of medical attention a few weeks later, I flew to the US and headed to a hospital. The angel doctors and nurses who received and cared for me saved my life and made everything much smoother, for which I will forever be immensely grateful. And that's how I ended up in Los Angeles.

What My Blogs Will Be About

I like deep stuff. No, but seriously who needs more of the same? I crave things that flirt with my soul. If it doesn't make it tickle, I don't want it. Although it's not all serious here, I love laughing and having fun, so prepare for some of my jokes; they're coming.

My blogs will vary quite a bit, but that's because I make music, and being a bit ADHD is necessary. I must draw from different sources to inform my artistry and keep things fresh and exciting. But besides writing about my music, crazy story, and journey of being an independent artist and human, one of my main topics will be dreams. And I'm not referring to our life's dreams but to the ones that appear when we fall asleep. Yes, those blurry, paradoxical, inceptionist, puzzling visions of the night. I'm a lucid dreamer, and that's one topic I'm deeply passionate about. But I've also had some unbelievable experiences in my dreams that have leaked into my real life and made me go, woah. Transformational, to say the least.

Reading is like breathing, so I will share and recommend topics that have impacted me regarding creativity, self-empowerment, spirituality, mysticism, and human nature. And, of course, share my experience and what I've learned from those readings. I have some dusty poems in the back of the trunk that I will set free and will be specifically added to a poetry section on my site. If any of this sounds good, follow along, and subscribe!
